Ministries for Youth
St. John's has a comprehensive Youth & Young Adult Ministry program that fosters
personal and spiritual growth, provides social gatherings, and opportunities for parish

Below is a listing of Community, Liturgical, Outreach and Service ministries specifically
open to the children and young people of our parish.
Altar Servers
Altar servers assist at the celebration liturgy on Sundays, weekdays,
major feasts, funerals, and weddings. Boys and girls from fifth
grade through high school are eligible for this ministry. New server
training takes place each summer. Contact:

Catholic Kids Net
A club for Catholic children in grades 1 - 4 that helps them learn to know, love
and serve Jesus.

Challenge Girls Group
A Catholic organization for girls ages 10 - 18 whose mission is to instill in its
members the goal of challenging themselves, others, and the world to grow in faith,
leadership, social awareness and apostolic action.

This group provides music for the monthly liturgy with children,
held on the third Saturday of each month at 5:15 pm and occasionally
at special celebrations. Membership is open to children in grade
4 and up. They rehearse on Thursday afternoons during the school

Liturgy Committee
This group prepares the monthly liturgies with children held on
the third Saturday of each month at 5:15 pm. Members of the committee
coordinate and train young people who serve as lectors, greeters,
ambassadors of peace, and other liturgical ministries.

Youth Ensemble
This ensemble provides music and encourages singing for our parish

Scouting
Our Scouting troops provide a safe environment for the healthy development
of our youth within the national Scouting programs. Their activities
for young men and women provide leadership training, build character,
guide in growth as responsible citizens and offer, social, recreational,
and educational growth.

Vocations Committee
This group invites the youth and all the faithful to become
disciples of Jesus in one of the specific vocations of ministry
in our Church. They inform and teach about, and support, vocations
