Our Philosophy & Goals
Philosophy
Catholic education has as its aim to teach the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and to
provide quality education. The American Bishops in the Pastoral Letter, To Teach As
Jesus Did, articulated that in a special way the Catholic School is the unique setting
in which this ideal can be realized. To follow the Bishops' call, Saint John the
Evangelist School strives to teach the Gospel Message of Christ and to enable each student
to achieve his/her fullest potential. This potential is reached through education that
takes place in the religious, intellectual, social, cultural, and physical aspects of
life.
Goals
We strive to live out our philosophy and achieve our goals by the following:
Religious Goals
- Teaching of Catholic doctrine and instruction in Christian living;
- Providing faith experience such as daily prayer, Mass, children's liturgies, and
sacramental preparation;
- Strengthening the spirit of family life through family programs and parent contact.
Intellectual Goals
- Employing a faculty whose members specialize in specific academic and cultural areas;
- Meeting curriculum guidelines with appropriate time allotments and proper grouping;
- Reviewing the staff, curriculum and facilities in an effort to meet student needs;
- Offering inservice workshops to teachers so that they may stay abreast of current issues
within their field;
- Encouraging volunteers to be teacher aides.
Social Goals

- Experiencing field trips, activities, and group projects;
- Providing special lunch days for teachers and students;
- Encouraging parents and other community members to volunteer for school programs.
Physical Goals
