The Playground Development Committee of St. John's School worked to make the new playground a reality for
the school and parish to share. The committee consisted of Mrs. Deborah
Broglie (chairperson), Ms. Leanne Lohmeyer, Mrs. Darlene Goebel, Mrs.
Valerie Sepkowski, and Mrs. Kathleen Sievers.
The playground design is geared to
be safe for ages 9 and below.
Our playground features a large Series 2000 play unit by
BCI Burke Company. This is their premier line of equipment, used by
numerous parks and recreation departments and public school systems.
It is designed for the heaviest use and to be virtually
maintenance free.
The main structure can accommodate up to 160 children. The system
includes:
- several fitness sections, which can also be used for Phys Ed
classes;
- a "Kid Koaster" overhead track ride;
- 19 different climbing, overhead and sliding play events to
accommodate a wide range of user abilities.
We also have an adjacent picnic area that teachers can use
for classes when the weather permits.
The system is constructed of galvanized, powder-coated steel
support posts with vinyl-coated punched-steel decks and double-wall
rotationally molded plastics for heavy use. All fastening hardware is
stainless steel.
