Weekly Mass Schedule
Tuesdays - Grades 1 & 2
Wednesdays - Grades 5 through 8
Thursdays - Grades 3 & 4
Classes will not attend weekly Masses during the week a School Liturgy is scheduled.
Spiritual Life
• Prayer begins and ends each day.
• Religion is taught daily.
• Prayer Partner Program engages older students in faith sharing projects with younger students.
• Priests, deacons and seminarians cooperate with classroom teachers in religious instruction of students.
• Students attend weekly Mass with their class.
• Students in Grades 7 and 8 cantor or lector at the weekly Mass.
• Students in Grades 5 through 8 serve as altar servers at weekly Mass and full school liturgies.
• All school liturgies and prayer services commemorate many feast days and holy days.
• Sacrament Preparation – First Communion (Grade 2), Reconciliation (Grades 2, 3 or 4), and Confirmation (Grade 8 with other parish candidates)
• All grades organize liturgies, and students participate as cantors, lectors, greeters, gift bearers, or in the choir at full school liturgies.
• Service Projects are planned and performed within and outside school and the community.
• Values Code Program promotes kindness, service, and respect for others where students are recognized for their efforts on a monthly basis.
• Students can participate in the Parish Youth Ministry.
Sisters of Saint Joseph – Saint John the Evangelist has been blessed with the presence of the Sisters of Saint Joseph since it opened in 1959. The Sisters affirm their belief that the need for a unique and Christ-centered education on all levels is greater today than ever before. Fully aware of the accelerating changes in society, they work diligently to set our students on an unending pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. They envision our students growing into men and women able to understand and cope with life, willing to serve others, impelled to worship.
School Liturgy Schedule
In addition to attending weekly Mass, the entire student body participates in six liturgies and two prayer services planned by each grade level. All parents and parishioners are encouraged to attend.
September 9 - Opening of School Liturgy planned by Grade 8 students
November 22 - Thanksgiving Prayer Service planned by Grade 2 students
December 21 - Advent Liturgy planned by Grade 4 students
February 3 - Catholic Schools Week Liturgy planned by Grade 3 students
February 22 - Ash Wednesday Liturgy planned by Grade 5 students
April 4 - Lent Liturgy planned by Grade 6 students
May 1 - Marian Prayer Service planned by Grade 1 students
June - Closing of School Liturgy planned by Grade 7 students
