Stand / Child Protection
The Archdiocese of Baltimore is committed to providing a safe environment for children and youth. The Archdiocese has many policies and procedures in place to ensure children and youth are safe. Volunteers and employees are both screened and trained before being allowed to work with children and youth.
If you will be volunteering with children or youth at a parish or school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore you must complete the following steps:
- Complete the Application for Volunteer Service
- Review the Code of Conduct for Church Personnel and Statement of Policy for the Protection of Children and Youth
- Complete the Volunteer Criminal History Screening Consent Form
- Complete the Driving Record Check Consent Form (only if you will be driving for a parish or school)
- Have three references checked
- Take the On-line or In-Person STAND Training
You may turn in your completed paperwork in at the School Office, Religious Education Office, or Parish Office. Additionally, you can pick up the forms listed above at any of these offices.
Tips to Remember:
1) You are not certified to work with children until all the steps above have been completed AND you receive your STAND card.
2) It usually takes several weeks to process the paper work and get references back, so please plan accordingly. You may turn your paperwork before you complete the STAND training so the office can begin to run the checks.
3) Do not assume that if you have seen the video or completed the online training that you are fully certified.
