Volunteering with Youth at St. John the Evangelist

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering at St. John the Evangelist.   As of November 1, 2017, in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, all parishes and archdiocesan Catholic schools are using VIRTUS, a compliance management system that allows the management of ALL volunteers.  If you previously registered in Shield the Vulnerable, your account and data transferred to the Virtus system and there is no related action for you to take.

All NEW volunteer applicants must register and train in VIRTUS regardless of the ministry.  The type of ministry determines whether or not you register as a volunteer with substantial contact with children (and other vulnerable individuals) or without substantial contact.

Anyone volunteering in St. John the Evangelist School, Faith Formation, Youth Ministry,  Boy Scouts, Music, Sick and Homebound, St. Vincent de Paul Society, or other programming where children will be present has substantial contact with children, and needs to indicate "volunteer with substantial contact with children" when registereing.  If you are unsure, please contact the leader of the ministry for which you want to volunteer.

All new adult volunteers (18 and older), please  Click Here to access the VIRTUS online website and choose "FIRST-TIME REGISTRANT."

NOTE: If you are 14-17 years of age and wish to volunteer, please contact the Office of Faith Formation at 410/647-4892 and ask about the Worthy of the Call Program for youth volunteers in leadership roles.

Please contact Gracemarie Jeter, Screening Coordinator/Parish Operations Assistant, at gjeter@stjohnsp.org  or 443-261-0180 with any questions or to obtain step by step instructions for registering in VIRTUS
