Inclement Weather

Thursday January 17, 2019

AA County schools have cancelled after school and evening activities. As a result, all events for children and youth are cancelled tonight at St. Johns. Programs and meetings for adults will decide whether to cancel or meet on a case-by-case basis.

Inclement Weather Policy

We generally follow the direction of Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Click here to see their current status.
If school opening is delayed: 8:30a.m. Mass will go on as scheduled, the Parish Office will be open and evening activities will go on as scheduled.

If schools are closed: 8:30a.m. Mass is cancelled. Call the Parish Office before visiting. If weather conditions improve, evening activities may go on as scheduled. Groups will determine whether to meet or not, unless the decision is made to close all facilities for the day. This will be announced on the webpage, via Facebook and Twitter, as well as group emails.

If schools dismiss early: All evening activities are canceled and the Parish Office will be closed.

On Weekends: Masses will go on as scheduled, unless the Archbishop of Baltimore grants a general dispensation from the Sunday obligation. Visit the parish website or call the Parish Office to confirm whether Masses are being celebrated. Cancellation of any Masses will be announced via Facebook, Twitter, and parish group email, as well as posted on the webpage. Call the Parish Office before visiting to see if it is open. (If Masses are cancelled, the Parish Office will be closed.)

There is no obligation to attend Mass when weather causes hazardous road conditions. Please exercise prudent judgment and do not take unnecessary risks by driving on snowy or icy roadways.
