Casey Buckstaff - Principal
Casey Buckstaff loves St. John the Evangelist School! She started her own Catholic education in Mount Prospect, Illinois at St. Raymond Catholic School. She is a life-long learner and has continued her education at the University of Notre Dame (BA), Notre Dame of Maryland University (MAT), University of Phoenix (Ed.D., ABD), and then back to the University of Notre Dame (candidate, MNA). She was a Division I athlete at Notre Dame, and those rowing team lessons of leadership, hard work, and collaboration find their way into every day as a principal.
She taught 2nd grade in Baltimore with Operation TEACH and has continued her ministry in the Archdiocese. She has taught many grades and subject areas, coach basketball and softball, and directed a children’s choir. She worked for Catholic Relief Services in the Philippines, writing education programming on the subject of peace=building and mediation for middle and high school students. She has been an educational leader as an Assistant Principal at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Middle River, as well as here at St. John the Evangelist for a total of nine years. After serving as principal at Monsignor Slade Catholic School in Glen Burnie, she returned to St. John in 2015 as principal.
