Favorite hobby: In my spare time, I enjoy learning new pieces and exploring new methods of improvising on the pipe organ. Music has always been one of my favorite ways to both give glory to God and refreshment to my own spirit.
Favorite scripture passage: “Did not our hearts burn within us while he [Jesus] talked to us on the road…?” (Lk. 24:32). An encounter with Jesus stirs something within us, even if we only come to recognize who we really encountered and who was really at work within us later on.
Favorite food: Put crab meat on anything, and it quickly becomes a top-tier food, in my book.
Favorite Saint: One of my favorite saints is St. Faustina. She received numerous visions of Jesus, who appeared to her as the Divine Mercy. I had the opportunity to work one summer at the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Vilnius, Lithuania, which houses the only image of the Divine Mercy that she herself lived to see. In fact, she supervised it’s production. What I love about St. Faustina is her radical trust in the goodness of the Lord, even through her own health problems and isolation within her religious community.
Favorite bible character/disciple: I took St. John the Evangelist as my patron when I was confirmed. At first, I was attracted to the poetic style of his writing. But since I’ve been in the seminary, I’ve come to appreciate him more and more as the one who is always close to Christ throughout the Gospel. St. John is a good reminder that the most important place to be is at Christ’s side, resting and awaiting his instruction and command.
Favorite sports team: Through thick and thin, I’ve always loved the Orioles.
What you love most about your job: My job, if you can call it that, is incredible because it’s about bringing people to Jesus and helping to form them as disciples, while I also come closer to Christ and grow in my own discipleship by doing my job.
