What is “the 511” Anyway?

We have set a goal to engage 511 folks in the ministries at our parish who aren’t currently involved.  Our focus is on the following areas that we feel are critical to help us achieve our goals of being a community of invitation, welcome, and growth as disciples.

Why 511?

Our staff went through an exercise of calculating how many new ministers were needed in each ministry area and when we added them up we arrived at 511.  For example, we already have many Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, but if we want to offer communion under both species at all five masses, we need 54 more.  Similarly, to have thriving Children’s and Student Ministry, we need about 160 more small group leaders.
