The Beatitudes and Francis of Assisi
A Gospel of Matthew Scripture Study
Along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, Jesus sat down with his disciples, trailed by crowds seeking his next miracle, to begin what is famously known as The Sermon on the Mount. Jesus began this series of teachings with what has been called, “The Beatitudes,” eight principles that ring familiar of the Psalms and other Old Testament biblical wisdom.
But what does it look like to live out the Beatitudes? Is it really possible to apply them to daily life? Can you really live that way?
In this study, you’ll take an 8-week pilgrimage to the Sea of Galilee and Northern Italy to explore the teachings of Jesus and see what they look like lived out in daily life through the inspiring witness of St. Francis of Assisi and the example of his holy and intentional response to God's word.
The Study:
The Bible Study is part of “The Hagios Series” of studies. It is unique in the way it pairs a deep study of God’s Word in Scripture with the life of a saint who shows us what it looks like to put the Scriptures into practice.
Each session you’ll follow a four-part flow based on the ancient tradition of Lectio Divina:
